Amphora Project

Ancient gods—paradoxical beings

The society that Homer describes in The Odyssey is a preliterate society, in which people did not yet read and write. But they were great storytellers! Often those stories were told through pictures, and sometimes those pictures were painted on pots called amphorae which travelled around on ships, spreading the stories throughout the Mediterranean.

Find a myth that illustrates the contradiction in your god’s character, and create a representation of that myth on an Amphora.
