Aiolos

Aiolos Hippotadês is a wealthy man who lives on Aiolia Island. He was given the power to control the wind and weather by the gods, and he has a wife and twelve children. When Odysseus lands on his island, Aiolos welcomes him warmly, and offers all the amenities of the guest law. Upon Odysseus's departure, Aiolos bestows him with a bag containing fair winds to carry him home to Ithaka safely. Odysseus's crew becomes suspicious: they think that this bag contains gold and gifts that Odysseus is keeping for himself, so they open it without him knowing. All the wind gushes out, and when Odysseus returns to Aiolos to explain the situation, Aiolos shuns him, and denies him the comforts of the guest law.
